“Rebekah has been such a prominent mentor for me, and it is truly inspiring to watch them be that person for countless other interns and students. I have watched Rebekah dedicate so much of their time to their craft—from stage managing shows to teaching classes to prioritizing community involvement to earning their MFA all in the same short span of time—and I can only imagine what more Rebekah could do in a place that truly calls on their skills.
Their ability to command a room with such kindness and patience is incredible. They care so deeply for not only everyone they work with, but for anyone even remotely in their vicinity. I have watched students in completely different departments feel more comfortable going to Rebekah than their own department heads, and they always welcome them with open arms. Their genuine desire to see you as a human before anything else is refreshing in a workplace and an industry that can sometimes feel so mechanical.
While Rebekah has primarily acted as a mentor for me over the last year, we have also developed a collaborative relationship as Stage Managers. We have watched each other work on shows and offered support to one another, but we have also had the opportunity to work together directly as Stage Managers. Due to circumstances out of anyone’s control—circumstances that Rebekah has handled with so much grace and care—stage management assignments for our summer season had to shift after the season already
began. Rebekah handled rehearsals and tech for Luchadora! before passing the show over to me for performances; they set me up for success so well that I have never felt more prepared to call a show, even when I went through a rehearsal process myself. They provided so much support during the changeover, and they made sure I understood every detail of the show. While I know I could never fill Rebekah’s shoes, their comprehensive notes and paperwork made me feel so much more confident in taking over for them.
When I look back on my time as an intern at PCPA, Rebekah remains one of my favorite aspects. They truly make me feel seen and heard whenever I go to them with any concerns; I have never felt safer when asking for help or guidance. I have learned so much from them over the last year, and there are so many components of their stage management and mentorship styles that I hope to carry with me. I know Rebekah will thrive in any situation they face, and I can only hope I am fortunate enough for the opportunity to continue to learn from them and work with them.“

“Having the opportunity to work closely with Rebekah was a highlight of my time at PCPA. While working with them on the Shane stage management team, I always felt fully supported by them and I knew that any concerns, questions, considerations, or thoughts would always be met with an open mind and thoughtful insight. Rebekah is also a strong advocate for mental, emotional, and physical health. I took away a lot from watching them interact with the actors in our show, especially regarding the intense fight choreography and sometimes difficult subject matter. Outside of the rehearsal room, they were always available to bounce ideas off of, listen to concerns, or just chat about my day. Every conservation, no matter the topic, was always approached with kindness, insight, and thoughtfulness. During my time working with them, I saw Rebekah be a fierce advocate for those who needed or wanted help advocating for themselves. I saw many people go to Rebekah for advice regarding problems big and small. Creating a rapport and open dialogue with the people they work with is also something that I will carry with me into the future. Rebekah is such a fantastic person to work with, I’m so glad our paths crossed and I will carry the experiences and strategies I learned from them with me for a long time!

“In my past year as a stage management intern, I’ve been fortunate to work with Rebekah, both directly and indirectly, on a number of projects. They are one of the most dedicated individuals I know, and someone who cares deeply about the success of the students and interns they’re mentoring. Time and again, Rebekah proved themselves to be a reliable source of company knowledge, and perhaps more importantly, support and encouragement when things were going sideways for one reason or another. As our Deck Manager on the holiday run of Frozen, Rebekah was steadfast and reliable while helping the ASM team and Deck Crew solve problems throughout tech and the show run, which was a massive and complex undertaking for everyone involved. I saw firsthand the care and dedication they had to facilitating the student and interns’ success, and they led every interaction with kindness and encouragement. “Working with Rebekah over the past two years at PCPA has had a lasting impact on my growth as a stage manager and theatre professional. As both a faculty member and mentor, they taught me the importance of being efficient, organized, and effective while never losing sight of the people behind the work.
One of the most valuable lessons I learned from Rebekah is how to balance professionalism with humanity. They consistently demonstrate that great stage management is not only about skill, preparation, and execution, but also about understanding and supporting the individuals who make a production possible.
